I love my internet friends

They mostly hang out at ABC forums which you can access here or here. Thankyou all for being so entertaining - and strict (misscarol & karloskar)!

And yes, I was using this as further distraction.

Oh, and thankyou to Artemis and Bill L for the kind comments on the Photos page.

Wikipedia

I found a most excellent resource a couple of weeks ago: www.wikipedia.org

This is a very interesting project which is an open source encyclopaedia. For those who don’t know what ‘open source’ means, it’s basically where anyone can contribute. If you’re a geek like me you should definitely check it out, you can find out all sorts of interesting stuff like…

Read about my home town - Toowoomba as contributed by someone (by the way for all you Toowoomba people, if something is incorrect you can correct it - that’s the beauty of open source): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toowoomba

Find out all about basil: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basil

Find out all about Buster (or his bread at least): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Russell_Terrier

Find out the rules to billiards: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billiards

It goes on and on. This whole thing relies on the fact that there are so many people out there passionate and knowledgeable about their particular field of endeavour, and they are willing to contribute to such an ambitious project.

Have a look!

My first (of many I suspect) geek category post!

without comments

Recently in a forum I visit regularly I made a post which fairly shamelessly promotes this site. Upon discovery, Aidan (pictured here doing stupid things) labelled it a “shameless use of html humour.” Judge for yourself:

<shamelessplug> Or you could go to www.elvery.net/drzax and find out what I talk about. </shamelessplug>

First Annual East Coast Scooter Limbo Competition (AECSLC I)

with 2 comments

Questionable phrases accompanied by even more questionable actions:

  • “Oh shit! My arse”
  • “This arse on action is getting us lower and lower”
  • “There was less arse-to-metal interference”
  • “He’s naked all of a sudden. When did this happen?”
  • “That is low. I’m tellin’ you - THAT is LOW.”
  • “I farted on the way down”
  • “I bounced”

You may recall that some time in the distant past there was a day known as Australia Day (I know it was a while ago now) , well on this day the First Annual East Coast Scooter Limbo Competition was held at my house.

The competitors were:

Tony Simpson

Height: Shorter than me Weight: No idea Age: Not sure on that either

Aidan Murphy

Height: ‘Bout my height Weight: Bit heavier than me Age: Five days younger than me

Simon Elvery

Height: Exactly the same as me Weight: Exactly the same as me Age: Again, exactly the same as me

The idea in scooter limbo is to ride the scooter under a broomstick/pool cue which gets progressively lower until all but one competitor is eliminated (three attempts at each height are allowed).

Selected photos of the day are here.

The competition ended with a draw between Tony and Simon, followed by a celebratory rave party attended by competitors and onlookers.

*note that throughout the day quotes were recorded by Laura. Quote: “I can’t believe I’m writing down your ridiculous bonehead quotes.”
