Where are the autumn leaves?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining - more questioning. I love summer and all that it has to offer here in Brisbane, but it’s now the end of April and I’m yet to see a single autumn leaf fall.
I just went to get my lunch from the refectory (shudder). On the way over it was bright and sunny - a lovely day as it has been all morning. I was in the refectory for no more than five minutes but by the time I got out a dark cloud had appeared from nowhere and was producing a lovely shower. While others huddled under the picnic table umbrellas and crowded the doorways I walked straight out into it.
It wasn’t particularly heavy but the drops were large - a very important component of a fantastic summer sun shower. As I walked back to the office I spent as long as I could soaking up the smell and the feel of the rain drops mixed with some sunshine. That warm, damp, sweet smell that only summer rains bring.
Summer is still here and I’m enjoying everything about the weather at the moment (except that I’m not out and enjoying it more). The nights are starting to get a touch colder and my feet felt that cold one of the nights last week - oh how I HATE cold feet. As much as cold feet destroy my love of winter, I still love the ever changing seasons and usually look forward to the next as much as I miss the last (with a slight bias toward summer).
Bring on winter; I want to wear my new jacket already.
Equally lovely weather on the other side of the world coming into spring. Each day new flowers and leaf buds are appearing.Even been sunny for 2 days in a row! Love your eloquent writing Simon.

Not many down here in Melbourne, either. Very warm autumn.
