I want a fat pipe!
The state of the internet in this country is hideous. Checkout this post from Photo Matt about his new connection. And if you think he’s got it good check out comment number 13. There are people in this country (and more than just a few) who are still on dialup!!! Thankfully I’m not one of them, but my 1.5Mbit down and 256Kbit up looks a little sad compared to that.
Sadly, for some, I’m still a dial-up user, it’s a lot like me - slow, unreliable and old-fashioned.
But I can plug my laptop into whatever hotel room I’m staying at ( Ah the R’n'R lifestyle) and dial-up my ISP and get about the same performance if I was at home 50Kb/s. What is a limitation for home use is say a file transfer the size of XPs SP-2 could take forever if it completes at all and burning the data to disc and popping it in the post has become a bit unpro so maybe I should aspire to a 256 upload speed
