My favourite browser has just had a mega upgrade. It is probably fair to say that the every day internet user doesn’t really appreciate the importance of web standards and compliance by web browsers. It’s for this reason that most people blindly stick with Internet Explorer. I could go into a big long explanation of why web standards are important but it would:
- bore people
- have been said better before by others
- bore people
Any body using Internet Explorer on this site is subject to the ugly banner. If for no other reason than to avoid the ugly banner I ask you, please try Firefox. You won’t regret it.
Note: I’m currently experiencing early addopter tax in the form of many extensions not working. Of course new users won’t need to worry about his, though you will grow to know and love many Firefox extensions.

I’ve had Google Analytics installed on this site for about two weeks so I’m starting to get a feel for what content drives search engine traffic to this site. I have only three posts on this site that contain words that relate to sex in any way. The most recent probably hasn’t had much time to be picked up by search engines considering the frequency this site is indexed, however the first two have been around for a while. It turns out that, the words used in the first two posts come in at numbers one and three on the list of top search terms used to find this site.
On an entirely different note, today is exactly one year since the first post appeared on this site. Yay for blogging birthdays!
Aidan left for his holiday in the US yesterday, and by now should be having the time of his life in California. He has setup a travel blog over at transcribble.com. Go and check it out.
It’s been a long while since we’ve had a Shin Dig where all were in attendance, and I think nearly all will be there tonight.
Finally, Nathan & Simon have finished university - each finishing with degrees in Business and Information Technology. They started way back in March 2001 as young inexperienced boys and grew into rowdy unruly thugs… Well something like that anyway.
As well as to celebrate the end of university for me and Nathan, it is a send off for two of the members, Aidan and Ian, who are both going to the US for holidays.
You will be able to (if you’re even remotely interested, and I’d be highly surprised if anyone was) to track how I’m travelling in terms of improving my standings in the various sports[]: pool, foosball, darts and poker. Given I missed the last two Shin Digs my standings have taken a serious hit. So here’s my strategy. Start the night with poker….play really really well and win or place in at least two, maybe three games. That should boost my overall position significantly. Then, after I’ve had a few drinks, move on to pool. My pool game (if I’m out of practice - and I am), counter-intuitively, improves with vodka. I’m going to avoid foosball at all costs, especially against Ian and darts are also out…it’s been far too long since I played.
You can see the current standings over at the Shin Dig site. I still think I’m looking good as an all rounder, I mean there are only two other people who aren’t negative in at least one sport.
