Since last time
I never seem to be able to write up events in my life and stick them here in a timely manner. Soon all my posts may be best categorised before I forget[1].
So, since last time lots of stuff has happened.
Without Pockets
I’ve started working for myself from home two days a week as of July in an effort to start a new business. I hope to launch in early October just after the wedding, I hope that is a realistic time frame. Look for something more interesting than nothing at withoutpockets.com.au soon. I’m still debating with myself on the best domain name to use. I’ve registered withoutpockets.com, withoutpockets.net, without-pockets.com, without-pockets.net and withoutpockets.com.au. Ultimately, they will all point to the same place, but I will only advertise one, so what do you think?
Adventures in the Underground
Last Friday evening I went into the underground on my first urbex[2] photography treck. Aidan, Gibbs and I went exploring in Brisbane’s storm water drain system and I got what I recon are some killer shots. I can’t wait for the next when I vow to be heaps more prepared, especially with the lighting kit I take.
Check out all the photos in 1000 Words or with this lovely Flickr slide show.
The highlight was almost certainly finding, identifying and looking up the “Buranda Chimney.” I can only find one other picture of it on the ‘net, but certainly not one of the inside.
I’ve also been to Melbourne since my last post and have started uploading some photos.
Scooter Limbo
There has been a post brewing for a while about our activities on Australia Day, namely the Second Annual Scooter Limbo Championships[1]. I realise I’m almost a month late, but the post still isn’t done, so I’ve prepared this quick teaser.

- That’s not to forget the pie eating contest, barbecue and the slip’n’slide. [↩]
Summer Fun 2005
Saturday night went off pretty well, I think. We had about 23 people in the end, which is a pretty bloody poor turnout given the invite list had over 50 people on it.
In hind sight, I should have started the evening a little earlier. 6-6:30 would have been better than 7pm, and I probably shouldn’t have drunk quite as much. Most people had arrived by about 8pm which is when we started the BBQ…things after that start getting hazy.
I decided for some reason (probably so he didn’t feel left out) that it would be a good idea to ring Aidan. Unfortunately I drastically miscalculated the time difference. Remembering that California was -8hrs was all I could manage. It didn’t occur to me that this actually meant -8hrs GMT, and with Queensland being +10hrs GMT my approximate estimation of the time over there (mid-afternoon) was out by a good 10 hours…sorry dude. The fact that he was staying at Chelsea’s grandparents’ house made the phone call even less convenient and even more rude. Again, sorry.
Phu on videos
Over the past couple of days Phu has brought attention to a couple of little gems found on the (beta) Google Video search.
The first is a brilliant piece of football showmanship. The second (you’ll have to go see it to find out what it is) made me laugh out loud several times. It’s dead set fantastic!
It is really REALLY worth your time to check them both out.
