And before you know it, the first GHDR review day rolls around.
My resolutions this year were:
Just Do It,
Take Financial Control, and
Engage More
The progress...
... has been mixed at best. The detailed report follows.
Just Doing It
I initially thought I'd been doing quite well - I've certainly been very busy at work, and even completed a whimsical personal project over a weekend and a bit. But then I realised that those aren't the things I actually need to focus on just doing - I'm already pretty good at whimsical personal projects. As I've already identified, ... more
Groundhog Day Resolutions 2010
§
I'm trying Groundhog Day Resolutions on for size just one more time. I've attempted it a bunch of times in years past, but never managed to maintain it for the entire year. If it doesn't work this year, I'm done - or at least done publicising my failures.
Relatively speaking, I'm feeling fairly aimless at the moment. For the past couple of years, my usual goal making and general forward planning has been neglected. I'd like to reverse that trend a little this year. While I do have a general outline of where things are going in my head, there's ... more
9/9 - GHD Review
§
Assuming this acutally gets posted today (it will, I'm sure it will) I've actually managed to string together a run of two GHD Reviews. And not only that, I've put them online on the day they're supposed to go online.
Looking at my goals from the 8/8(/8) review it seems I haven't really achieved any of them (surprise, surprise). But, I do think I'm getting better - maybe. Probably better in some areas and worse in others.
Showering in the evenings - I almost managed to establish showering in the evenings as a habit, but I'm constantly thwarted by frequent ... more
8/8(/8) - A not very repetitive Groundhog Day Review
§
I seem to suffer from intermittent, but persistent bouts of Chronic Inaction. My GHD Resolutions have been a total failure. My 3/3 Review, the last one I did, said I’ve decided that the solid establishment of one major habit per month should be achievable. Wrong!
As usual, David Seah, the father of GHD Resolutions is kicking along very strongly. His 7/7 review was ridiculously detailed. I might as well give up now, but I won't.
My somewhat pared down set of goals for the coming months are:
Shower in the evenings1
Shave, everyday2 - I've been a total scrubber of ... more
GHD Resolutions
§
A while back, like the end of last month, I decided I'd follow David Seah's Groundhog Day Resolutions method of implementing New Year's Resolutions. I've never been one to set New Year's Resolutions for the simple reason that they never seem to be kept. So last year when I stumbled across David Seah's idea of GHD Resolutions I was intrigued.
After following his progress last year I'm determined to give it a go this year. The distinct advantage I see in using his methodology is that they aren't mere resolutions anymore, they have become goals. And not only that, they're ... more
