I've always felt as if I'm missing out on something when it comes to music. I feel like I was late to the game, and I'm still catching up. I'm certain I didn't really know anything at all about music until I was in high school and even though there are songs from before then that will bring back memories - good and bad - I couldn't name them. Even well into high school I don't think my interest in being a music fan had reached tipping point and my music taste certainly hadn't matured to a point where I ... more
Another update from Laura
§
Hi everyone! Hope you're all well and the cold isn't starting to bite too much (no, scrap that. You can all be cold for a bit.)
I've had a couple of highlights since I last wrote. The biggest one involves the Sex and the City world premiere, but I'll talk about that later, so see if you can figure it out. The other one is the weather! The last two weeks have been glorious. It actually reached 28 degrees on Sunday and most of the other days have been heading that way. Hi from London #6

Here is the latest from Laura:
Well, I am a bit behind in my fortnightly updates (and unemployed too! I should have no excuses!) Hello to everyone and thanks again for the emails letting me know what you’ve been up to.

Our 2.30 was a nightmarish “two-boy” property and we soon snapped up the flat we’ve been living in for almost a week now. It is ... more
Interested in Australian Political History?
§
A while ago, I went looking for a good book to read on Australian Political History, and I'm still looking. I really didn't manage to find one that inspired me to fork over $20-30. Most books on Australia's Political History seem to be biography based, which really isn't what I'm looking for and neither do I want something that's detectably partisan.
So, while I'm still looking for the book1, I've found a resource almost as good. A team in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne led by Dr Sally Young, Senior Lecturer in the Media and Communications ... more
Geni rocks my non-family-tree making socks off
§
I've never really got into exploring my family tree, although I don't have any great aversion to doing so either. I've just never really been bothered, it never managed to get me excited. I've always expected that it would get me excited sooner or later and I'd start exploring and building, but not yet.
One thing that does tend to get me pretty excited is discovering a new web app which is super slick, uses some great technology, and does something interesting and useful. Enter: Geni.
I discovered Geni today by accident and got so excited about it that I've ... more
